Alok lança instituto por justiça social e racial com fundo de R$ 27 milhões

O ano de 2020 nos colocou desnudos diante da morte. As perdas de vidas para o coronavírus nos impuseram um luto constante, sem possibilidade de abraços e despedidas. Ao mesmo tempo, nos mostrou que somos fracos sozinhos. O desafio deste ano, estabelecido por essa devastadora e coletiva tristeza, fez com que cada um buscasse dentro de si a fortaleza que significa simplesmente estar vivo. E estampou uma certeza: somos mais potentes quando agimos pelo bem comum.
Esse duplo sentimento foi o que mobilizou o DJ e produtor musical Alok, 29 anos, número 1 no Brasil e quinto melhor do mundo segundo a revista britânica DJ Mag, a criar o Instituto Alok, iniciativa que começa com um fundo de R$ 27 milhões doado pelo artista. Alok contou em primeira mão à coluna que a ideia é financiar projetos de enfrentamento à exclusão social e fomentar o acesso a oportunidades, especialmente para jovens e mulheres em áreas vulneráveis, rurais e urbanas, do Brasil. A iniciativa será lançada no próximo sábado (19), durante seu show virtual “Alive”. O fundo foi criado com recursos pessoais e também com os resultados financeiros da parceria com o game Garena Free Fire, em que Alok é um personagem que tem “poder de cura”.
“O instituto, para mim, é extremamente importante porque é o que dá sentido para a minha vida”, afirma Alok. Há alguns anos, ele vem gestando a iniciativa, tomando contato com a desigualdade social e racial, no Brasil e em países da África, como Moçambique, e conhecendo projetos sociais. Fez doações espontâneas que somam R$ 1 milhão a instituições como GRAAC, Hospital Pequeno Príncipe, Projeto Axé, Médicos Sem Fronteiras, apoiou ações em aldeias indígenas Yawanawá, no Acre, e deve concluir em breve a construção de 20 casas num povoado do sertão baiano.
Agora, com o instituto, Alok pretende engajar novos parceiros para compor o fundo e ampliar as iniciativas, que focam em empreendedorismo, segurança alimentar e desenvolvimento humano. Pretende trabalhar diretamente na instituição e assumir sua responsabilidade como ator social relevante diante de um país cada vez mais à deriva. Entre os valores que orientam a nova instituição está “o sentimento de unidade que abraça culturas, comunidades e a vida de todos os seres. E a convicção de que uma sociedade é realmente democrática quando todos têm oportunidades iguais.”.
O artista convidou o jornalista Geraldinho Vieira para dirigir o Instituto Alok. Com larga experiência no campo dos direitos humanos e do jornalismo, foi direitor-executivo da Agência de Notícias dos Direitos da Infância (ANDI), representante da Fundação Avina no Brasil e consultor de diversas instituições internacionais de filantropia como a Fundação Ford. É também conhecido como Devam Bhaskar e dirige um centro de meditação na Chapada dos Veadeiros.
